Tidal secure a Specialist Leader in Cultural Learning

CapeUK Specialist Leaders in Cultural Learning Scheme (SLiCL)

Tidal Teaching School Alliance now have a Specialist Leader in Cultural Learning. CapeUK, the regional bridge organisation for Arts Council England, have recently launched a new initiative called the Specialist Leaders in Cultural Learning scheme. With just ten places available across the whole of the Yorkshire and the Humber area the Specialist leader will act as an advocate for the arts as well as a source of advice, guidance and practical support for their school network. Tidal teaching school alliance have been successful in securing one of those ten places.

The role of Specialist Leader in Cultural Learning will be taken by Gerald Fox, an experienced drama practitioner and theatre maker with strong links to the region’s artists and arts organisations. In his new role Gerald will be helping schools to explore and discover how the arts and creativity can engage and enthuse children to learn. He will offer advice and training to teachers on creative approaches to learning, offer guidance on how to use the arts and cultural partners to support aspects of the curriculum, and establish strong partnerships with arts and cultural organisations helping them to develop their education offer to schools.
