Specialist Leader of Education for SEN

Ganton School

Claire is an outstanding and experienced SEN teacher; her current role is Assistant Head at Ganton school. Claire has been the Assistant Head Teacher since Easter 2014, previously she was Phase Leader for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Claire is responsible for the Primary department at Ganton School. Claire also has responsibility for a KS2 class, CPD, Curriculum and Assessment, SEAL, developing outstanding teaching, transition and has oversight of whole school Maths and Communication.

Claire has a wealth of SEN experience and training and leads and co-ordinates the ‘Tweendykes and Ganton Outreach Service’ alongside Tweendykes School. Claire has established a Ganton outreach team; working alongside Nurseries and schools supporting children under 7 with communication difficulties. Claire has a versatile role within this team developing and establishing support packages for the pupils and staff within these settings. Claire regularly works alongside other agencies ; SaLT, Education Psychologists to ensure the best outcomes for all. In addition to the Outreach Service. Claire also supports many local Primary Schools ensuring that all SEN children can access the curriculum and are making progress. Claire has formed excellent relationships with many Primary schools, helping set up and evaluate Nurture Provisions.

Improving outcomes is always at the forefront of Claire’s work, Claire always researches and explores new interventions to ensure children are achieving their targets and showing progress. Claire has written a New Curriculum to ensure success for all and has shared this good practise with many local schools.

Claire completed Leadership Pathways 2012 and in 2013 successfully completed a Leadership Programme for Senior Leaders in Special Schools and PRUs lead by the National College.
