Angela Baker – ICT
Angela has been the Deputy Head at Hedon Primary School since May 2014 after working as a Year 5/6 teacher in the East Riding since 2005. She achieved the NPQSL in Autumn 2016.
Angela currently teaches Year 5 as well as teaching ICT across the school in both Key Stage 1 and 2. She maintains current knowledge through research, reading widely and social media use. She is always looking out for ways to support teacher whilst being realistic about budget and time management.
It has been important to her own school that Angela also up skills other staff to ensure sustainable high quality ICT provision for all pupils. Angela introduced Seesaw (a student drive digital portfolio) and following staff training and support it is now embedded throughout the school. This has had an immensely positive impact on our pupil’s progress and teacher’s workload. She also ensures that ICT is included throughout every subject in a variety of ways.
Angela has had impact across both Hull and the East Riding through her work organising the Hull and East Riding ICT Conference. She ensures relevant and inspiring speakers nurture local talent and works to develop support networks which share good practice and inspire innovative ideas.
Angela supports staff in school on a regular basis. This has been ongoing for a number of years and has led to innovative ICT use in 100% of medium term plans. ICT use in cross curricular work has changed from being limited to internet use to a myriad of different applications and technologies alongside teaching computational thinking. This has evolved over time and has changed as technologies have altered.
